Hello and welcome. At times, we all need some support on our journey. Whether you are considering therapy for yourself or someone else, and whether this is the first time you have looked into the counselling world or not, it can be a daunting step. With so many counsellors out there working in so many different ways, choosing who to work with can be overwhelming! Counselling is most effective when you feel safe and comfortable in the therapeutic relationship, and so I encourage you to have a look at my site, take advantage of a free, no obligation phone call if you wish, and ask any questions you may have before deciding. If you choose to proceed, it would be my pleasure to come along side you and walk through whatever issues have lead you to this point at this time.

FAQs
Where do I start?
After taking a look at the website contents, get in touch using any of methods on the contact page
What happens after I make an initial enquiry?
I will get back to you and, if you would like to, we can arrange an introductory call so we can chat and you can ask any questions you might have about counselling. I will make a recommendation about possible next steps, including an initial appointment if we decide to work together or suggest others from my professional network if they might be more suited to your needs.
What happens if we decide to work together?
We would agree an appointment time (in person or online), and whether weekly or fortnightly sessions are preferable. I will then send over some more information by email, including my counselling agreement (which includes details about payments, cancellations and how your personal information is looked after) for you to read and sign. We will go through all aspects of paperwork together in our first session too.
What could I expect during my first session?
We would go though the paperwork you have been sent, and I would ask you some more details about yourself and your general health and history. We would begin to explore the reasons you have sought out counselling. We would also discuss what your aims and hopes are for our work together. (Many clients don’t know this at the start, and that is absolutely fine!)
How much does the counselling cost?
Details of the counselling fees can be found on the fees page of this site. Please ask about consesionary rates if you think this may apply.
How many sessions do I need?
The number of counselling sessions will vary depending on the needs of each individual, but typically we would look at having 6 to 8 sessions, then reassessing at regular intervals. Some clients feel they have achieved their goals after 4 weeks, others may find that longer term work (months or even years) is more beneficial as different things emerge.
How do I know if the counselling is working?
We will reflect on your progress during sessions to help you assess and track your journey.
How do I know if this approach is right for me?
I passionately believe that counselling can bring benefits to a wide range of individuals and their unique circumstances. Our initial conversation will help you to decide if I can be of service to you or if another professional or alternative therapeutic approach would be better suited to your needs.
